Hell, I'll be happy if they make GW2, and don't stop the current GW from running, and creating more chapters.
So long as they don't forget GW 1, I'm happy.

Not so sure about the news about GW 2, but I'm kinda buying into Guild Wars: Eye of the North. Not only does the idea sound awesome, but it has been speculated that the northern continent is next. The Lore forums here and on GWO were right about both Factions and Nightfall. There's also the matter of that screenshot and the whole "Asura" minipet (which looks awesome imo) thing.

I speculate that this thread will continue to speculate for another 10 pages. But that's just speculative speculation.

-Unsteady camera angles.
-I can see your character's breath.
-No ANet logo? The official trailers have ANet logos.
-Text screens look very fake. ANet loves to toss on some fancy fonts or abstract backgrounds.

I love it when people call other people noobs. The word reminds me of boobs. And that thought is better than the combined thought processes of everybody who has posted in this thread (myself included).

I was bored so I used that little search thingy they added on the official site to look up Eye of the North and see what came up. It came back with a link to the official guildwiki. Keep in mind it's one user's speculation and not an official announcement, but I still find it an interesting thought.
He thinks the Norns are likely the race of the Seer, and the Sylvarians could be the

By druid, he is of course referring to the druid tree spirit guys in the Maguuma Jungle.

On the subject of races, I personally do not want them to have inherrant racial abilities (assuming there will be playable races or even a GW2). I hate inherrant racial abilities, because it sort of forces you to play one race over another for a specific class (although usually I just ignore it and play the one I want). But zwei2stein is right. If there were inherrant abilities, then all the people like me who plays a race because of personal preference would get shunned by the community.
What I see for the idea of races is that each race has its own little storyline, at least to start out with. No special abilities, nothing special about them except a skin and a different storyline for different race. I think it's always fun to play a storyline from many different perspectives.

But seriously, what happened to the Seers, and mursaat?
Everyone can guess the Charr is going to be there in chapter 4, and those things that look like asura, but the mursaat?
And the tower in the screenshot looks more like something from another game than guild wars. such building structures are currently unknown to Gw. maybe a mursaat tower?
PS: KEEP THE 1000 POSTS IN MIND.

Eye of the North sounds good to me. I have been ready for them to tie up the loose ends in Tyria for a long time.

I don't see why people are against races with inherent abilites to them. They already have those in Guild Wars. They are called Primary Classes. Most MMOs use the Race/Class system. Guild Wars just does the same system with a different name Primary Class/Secondary Class.

You beat me too it. That's exactly what I was going to point out.
You can't change your primary. My primary doesn't lock me into choosing only certain secondaries. heck, my necromancer has been N/E, N/Me, N/Mo, N/D.....and my mesmer has been a Me/W, Me/Mo, Me/N, Me/D, Me/A, Me/Rt.....ahhh you get the idea and they all worked just great.
A race having certain skills to choose from would just add a tertiary profession and offer more longevity, by trying different races with each profession to get different interesting possibilities.

All very true. And if the issue is with the skin, well, as it is, you are stuck with certain skins/body types depending on the class you choose, now. It would be no different.
Perhaps what they could do is have a species attribute, that works like the primary attribute, and just do away with the primaries. That way, it could be possible to change your main profession, as well as your secondary. It never did make sense why your character would be "born" a warrior, for instance, unable to learn how to use Soul Reaping, or Energy Storage. Or a Monk that just simply can't get a grip on inner Strength and deliver an armor penetrating blows.
heh heh heh... I said "penetrating blows"...

To secure my status as geek... Does anyone remember playing D&D way back when it was split into sets? The red beginner box and such? Well, Races like Dwarf, Elf, and Halfings were really just classes with a different name. It's not like the mechanic is different here either, like Grim points out. They can take candy canes and turn them into weapons for crying out loud, lol. It's all just names and programming, they don't need to follow other games' examples at all.
